2011, "Satabhishekam" year

The "satabhishekam" of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati was celebrated in the city of Coimbatore, India, from the 20th to the 22 of July, 2011.

Satabhishekam is celebrated for a person who has lived through 1000 moons (about 81 years). It is in our tradition to seek the blessings of such a person by performing rituals etc. for the welfare of humanity. "Satabhishekam" refers to the rituales performed at this time in a person's life. "Sata" means "1000" and "abhishekam" is the main ritual.

Swamini Vilasananda wrote a description of her travel to India from Argentina for Pujya Swamiji's satabhishekam. Click here to read the article.
